About Me

My Photo
i am a textile artist and teacher. i love creating and making - anything from a traditional patchwork quilt to textured mixed media collages. i like playing with a soldering iron, a heat gun and synthetic fabrics. my first love is painting but i don't get much time for it at the moment. i enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, working in my garden ( when the weather is good) and getting out into the countryside. sutton hoo samples

i'm playing with this transfer solution to get my photocopied images on to fabric, i'm not sure how permanent it will be - does anyone out there have any experience of using the stuff? i've manipulated my image of the helmet on photoshop elements to get a ghostly effect - well that's the idea lets see if it works

  1. Yvonne - I've just tried to get a photocopied map onto fabric. I used fabric fixative on the paper then pressed it onto the fabric - probably didn't wait long enough for it to dry before rubbing (circular motion)the paper off. Mostly the marks stayed - BUT using Gesso is supposed to be good, and I DID do a sample of both products! Good luck!
