sara impey visits alveva quilters

one of sara's iconic pieces of work

sara talking to liz nally after the talk
we were very lucky to have sara impey speaking to the group at our march meeting. everyone was enthralled by the story of her working practice and, indeed, by the amazing examples that she brought along to show us. I just love the piece at the top with all the hanging threads-wish I had thought of that!

Quilters Guild Regional Weekend in Frodsham (and a visit to Chester)

I had a really good weekend with the 'girls' from Quilters Guild Region 13 at Frodsham in Cheshire, two workshop days and the regional day on Saturday. it was great to see so many familiar faces and meet many new friends. here are some of the girls at the marvellous marble workshop-work in progress- I look forward to seeing the finished pieces! I also had time to make a lightening trip into Chester, the cathedral has loads of little gems including this iconic sculpture in the garden and some amazing stained glass.

getting ready

although I've been at home for a few weeks and no teaching to speak of I have been very busy with 'creative things' and preparing for up and coming workshops, all seems to kick off again next week which also means a lot of driving so I hope the weather isn't too bad - please no snow or high winds!

things have become quite fraught here though because we have had a major hiccup with the electrics in the house (a long story so I won't go into it here) but it has meant that every electric installation in the house has got to be checked, electricians have been here for 8 days and not finished yet, the stress and disruption hasn't helped with my prep! Its hard to get on with stuff when there's people working in the house all the time and the electricity keeps going off.
sorting out worksheets

painting papers for transfer printing

printing yards of kunin felt

stacks of coloured kunin felt and foiled and painted evalon

as you can see lots of preparation but still more to do!
